Parish Loaves & Fishes Food Donation Program Resumes after COVID Hiatus
After the yearlong Covid hiatus, we are now ready to re-start our parish Loaves and Fishes food donation program. Since the start of the Loaves & Fishes collection on 4 Dec. 2010 to 12 March 2020, the parish donated over 5,515 pounds of food and personal items to the Howard County Food Bank. That’s an average of 11.4 lbs per week! In turn, the Food Bank distributes food to our neighbors in need through 9 local food pantries. In addition to non-perishable items, the Food Bank distributes fruit and vegetables grown at its community garden and offers educational programs that support healthy eating habits for families.
See the free bookmarks above the donation bin for a list of donation ideas. Most desired donations include Grains · Canned Protein · Canned & Dried Fruit · Hot & Cold Cereal · Soup(canned, cup of noodles, ramen noodles), · Pasta · Pasta Sauce · Tuna · 100% Fruit Juice · Baby Food · Diapers Size 4+ · Wipes · Peanut Butter · Canned beans (pinto, kidney, black) · Canned vegetables (low sodium) · Feminine Hygiene & Adult Incontinence Supplies and Pet Food. To participate, just bring your donation to church and drop it off in the bin which is emptied each Sunday.
Many thanks to all who participate in the on-going Loaves & Fishes donation of food items. May God bless your efforts!
